Kung Pik Liu: Brand Strategist
Today, I’m featuring Kung Pik Liu, a graphic designer turned brand strategist and the chief designer at Design Angel. I discovered her last month when she did a guest post on Chris Do’s Instagram.
I was immediately drawn to Pik’s work because she uses language in a way that is clear, concise, and clever. Her choice of words is engaging and makes me want to know more about everything she’s doing. She also talks about her values and her reasons for focusing on femtech in a way that’s really inspiring.
Pik uses beautifully clear language on the home page to describe her mission and answer the why, how, and what questions that her audience may have – all above the fold! Then in the Services section, she’s chosen really compelling verbs to draw us in and make us curious about the work her team provides. The little bits of humor, like “To Sell is Human, to Brand is Divine,” make it feel fun and conversational.
Her About page gives us some insight into what drives her and what her brand stands for. Sharing these values really helps the audience connect and shows how much she cares about her clients. I found her site to be truly delightful!
Using powerful verbs and adjectives, like Pik does, can really make your portfolio descriptions come alive and connect with your audience. I’ve got writing exercises in my Portfolio Writing Workbook to help you choose the best words to describe your work.
What did you notice in this 30-second scroll? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
