Changing the world through design: Zuzia Kozerska-Girard

Every day, creative people are changing the world. Today, we’ll look at an awesome game design by Zuzia Kozerska-Girard. It’s a more complex and beautiful version of a game called Guess Who? that was popular in my childhood.

Who is Zuzia Kozerska-Girard?

Kozerska-Girard is a designer and entrepreneur working in Warsaw, Poland. I think she’s a great inspiration for artists and designers that want to sell their work online to a global audience. Her game, called Who’s She?, highlights the lives and accomplishments of 28 famous women from around the world. She’s changing the world by celebrating these great women from history, inspiring young boys and girls to challenge stereotypes through play.

How is she sharing and promoting her work?

Kozerska-Girard used Kickstarter to fund and promote her product. The site is very nicely done and easy to navigate. It’s also been very successful! With only a week to go before the deadline, she’s already made 20 times as much as she set her goal for! Wow!

She uses a lot of still images, gifs, and videos to give customers a sense of what the game is like and how to play it. It’s very effective. She also uses compelling language to share her vision and describe her product. This is an important aspect of selling your work online!

Here is an example of some of her copy: “Who’s She features women who had the courage to be different and take risks. Their triumphs, adventures, discoveries and inventions will inspire you to dream bigger and take risks!”

How could I help?

I think this artist has done a very effective job of presenting and describing her work to her customers. The way you talk about your work depends on your purpose, so the copy you write for a website About page is different from a Kickstarter sales page, like this one, or from what you might say about yourself in a presentation or write on a resume.

Since her Kickstarter site is for sales, she uses a lot of imagery with short bits of text to keep the customer engaged. She uses action words and inspiring, powerful vocabulary as well, which bring up strong emotions for her customers.

She also describes the process and quality of her work very effectively so that the customer can see they’ll be getting a good product for their money. These are all great strategies for selling your work online!

I can help artists and designers write this kind of copy for their websites, online stores, or Kickstarter projects, in English. It can be difficult to describe your work effectively in just a few sentences as this designer has done. A language coach can help you choose the best words and phrases to get your message across effectively without spending too much time on it.

The only thing I would add to the designer’s site is a little more information about her. After seeing this amazing product, I’m still curious about the person behind it. She only includes a few sentences about herself, her idea for this project, and a past project that she designed and successfully sold. I think there are a lot of artists and designers that are trying to share their work with the world who would be interested to know more about what it takes to come up with a great idea, execute it, and sell it.
